Brown County community sensitive design

Brown County CSDBrown County CSDAesthetic and functional designs, reflecting community image and ideals, will be an integral part of the US 41 Project, thanks to the efforts and input of a Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) assembled by WisDOT. To capture the spirit of the community, the US 41 Project design team conducted 6 workshops with the CAC to identify issues and an aesthetic theme that could be utilized throughout the corridor.

Using this input as a guide, the design team developed a number of conceptual designs for the proposed structure and presented them in two separate public information meetings. The designs were also displayed on this Web site for the public to provide feedback. The comments obtained were carefully evaluated, and selected features were incorporated into a single recommended design concept, shown below.

The recommended design reflects the county’s history of masonry structures, most notably the use of brick, the architectural character of certain repetitive structures and a progressive outlook for the future.

WisDOT is also working with the Oneida Nation on future designs for various locations along US 41 that will reflect the Oneida culture and history.
